Okay, we really don’t have a “home” here, unless we can count random hotels and kind friends’ bedrooms we steal into whenever we have a free weekend to do so. But it always feels like home to me, wherever we stay.
My sister and her new hubby, and three of their five kiddos, joined us for a weekend at the beach. If only we could’ve stayed a full week. Or month…or maybe even a year. Mark my words, one day we’ll have a home here (or in nearby downtown Wilmington). And there will be many weekends like these.
I was there for big sis Morgan’s first trip to the beach a couple years ago, and she was happy to show little Bella the ocean. The girl is a fish, like her Aunt Mimi. :)
Bella was a little unsure about this gigantic body of water. But she sure loved the sand!
Morgan went for a full swim in the ocean in her clothes that first trip out to see the water. We warmed up in the room and she caught some snuggles with her mama.
We all loved the balcony at the Blockade Runner, kiddos and adults. Wish I could step out there right now.
Bella, pondering life. Or, just checking out a seashell.
She’s a water baby! But not so much a baby anymore. So proud of the big helper she’s become.
Levi was also unsure of the ocean, unless his mama was there. :)
Georgia Faye & family joined us for the day on Saturday. They did some treasure hunting in the sand. :)
My beautiful sis slipped into her wedding dress for a few shots.
So cute with her hubby!
Bella joined us while we did photos of mom & dad. I think she was ready to get back in the sand when we snapped this.
Love their rings
And I really love Leslie’s button bouquet!
I slept with the balcony door open on Saturday (had the kiddos stay in my room on Friday, so I didn’t then for fear of their escape ;). I woke up to gulls chatting, and a gorgeous sunrise.
Love this shot of the ladies in Wilmington, with the Battleship across the river, and a pirate ship next to us. That’s right, I said pirate ship. Movie prop, y’all. It was in town just for the day.
We ended our trip with a little Port City Java. This shot is classic!
I didn’t see this scene until I uploaded all of our photos, and I rolled laughing! Apparently Bella’s baby was sleeping on the floor, and needed some “covers.” A coffee cup sleeve did the trick. :)
Jordan’s view of downtown Wilmington from the other side of the river. What a gorgeous day.
Here are my favorite iPhone shots from our trip. Clockwise from top left: Sunrise on Sunday; the kiddos after enjoying some ice cream, saying “iiiiiice creeeeam” instead of “cheese”’; Levi Potter having dinner at k38; all the kiddos on all the dudes’ shoulders (LOVE this); exhausted kiddos watching Dora the Explorer during their sleepover in Aunt Mimi’s room; Bella putting her babies to “bed” for a nap outside of Kohl’s; white chocolate cheesecake with bourbon soaked cherries and a chocolate crust.
What an amazing trip. We love all of you. Let’s go back, right now. Eh? :)
